On October 2, 2026 students will walk/jog/run/skip/dance around the outdoor field with music playing, while receiving encouragement from teachers and parents.
POWELL’S RACE FOR EDUCATION
Help Powell continue to be an outstanding magnet school for arts and engaged learning.
The goal isn't just "to raise $25K". The goal is creating experiences, resources, opportunities, and a better school experience for our kids - with $25,000. *100% of Race for Education fundraising stays at Powell and goes to support our kids, our school! That includes things like:
Learning resources + enrichment
Writers & Artists in Residence Experiences
Music instruments and repairs
LEGO Robotics
Girls on the Run + Run Club
Science Olympiad and the Spelling Bee
Field trip support
Teacher grants (for their classroom resources)
Palooza (spring carnival) + school traditions
…and plenty more throughout the year. So, if you've been meaning to donate but haven't gotten around to it yet…consider this your nudge. Even $5 helps.

The previous year Race for Education Fundraiser made the following supplies and experiences possible for our school
Almost 300 books were purchased for our Media Center
(through money raised by the PTA funded and organized Book Fairs)
Literary center materials for 1st grade purchased through a teacher grant
Artist in Residence, The Number Drummer at Powell! A fun and exciting learning opportunity for all students - Music/rhythm + Math.

Each year the Funds raised support the following efforts:
Teacher Grants - Grants that teachers can apply for to pay for class supplies.
Artist in Residence Programs- Local artists performing and teaching at the school
Curriculum enhancements- Classroom supplies, Instrument repairs, books, etc.
Book fairs
Teacher appreciation events - including keeping the teacher lounge stocked
Clubs - Lego Robotics, Run Club, Science Olympiad, Spelling Bee
Student services
And much more
